“With education everything is possible and no doors will stay locked as you hold the key.” That’s what Thobile’s mom told her and thus far has been her motivation. a 37-year-old born and bred in KwaZulu-Natal, Estcourt, while working full-time and raising two sons, she enrolled for Public Management at Mnambith TVET College. It all started In 2017 a conversation with her colleague and friend Ms Nontokozo Mdakane who forcefully persuaded her to go register with her at Mnambithi TVET College, Estcourt Campus.

As a working student, the college’s late and weekend classes made it possible for her to study without leaving her job. “The lecturers were extremely supportive as a working student, they never made me feel left behind, fellow students and environment were warm and welcoming,” she says. She credits Miss Kunene, Miss Mabaso, Miss Shoba, and Mr. Nkosi for making learning fun and worthwhile. So much so that she re-enrolled for another qualification. Even today, she stays in touch with her lecturers who continue to encourage her to pursue a doctorate.

Thobile graduated as our Top achiever in 2023, and hasn’t stopped since. She’s completed an advanced diploma with 3 distinctions, and is now studying a Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Pretoria. Mnambithi TVET College didn’t just give Thobile a qualification- it gave her confidence. When asked what is her next goal she said she wants to become a lecturer to inspire the next generation OR step into a senior managerial role where she can contribute to education and community development. Her advice to student: “Give your all towards your learning, make time to study. Nothing is impossible, even the sky is not the limit.”

Her message to the former lecturers and College staff: Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and willingness to share your knowledge. Your efforts have not only contributed to my academic growth but have also inspired confidence, discipline, and perseverance in me and many other students.” Thobile’s story is a reminder that it’s never wrong to always aim higher. Mnambithi TVET College is proud to be part of her journey.
