Designed exclusively for staff, the session focused on building emotional resilience, managing workplace pressure, and promoting mental wellness in high-demand environments. Facilitated by qualified wellness practioners, the workshop offered practical strategies such as mindfulness techniques, breathing exercises, time management tips, and healthy coping mechanisms. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, shared experiences, and learned how to recognize early signs of burnout – empowering them to support both themselves and their students more effectively.
The college leadership emphasized that the staff well-being is foundational to quality education, and this initiative reflects Mnambithi TVET College’s ongoing commitment to a healthy, supportive, and sustainable work culture. As part of the holistic approach to wellness, the workshop included a guided yoga session designed to help staff release tension, improve focus, and reconnect with their bodies and breath. Participants embraced the calming practice with enthusiasm, finding relief in gentle stretches and mindful movement, a peaceful break from their busy schedules. The inclusion of yoga highlighted the college’s commitment to integrating physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the staff development and proving that self-care isn’t a luxury, but necessity.
The workshop also included a vital session on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), reminding staff that wellness extends beyond stress, it includes safety, dignity, and justice. Participants were educated on the signs of GBVF, available support systems, and critical role staff play in prevention and advocacy. Staff were urged to take a firm stand against this national crisis, to model respect and accountability, and to create safe spaces for learners. By linking mental well-being with social responsibility, Mnambithi TVET College reinforced that true wellness means caring for oneself and protecting one another.
