Zazidlana imilala kungekho efuna ukugoba uphondo on this year’s KZN debate competition. Hosted by Mnambithi TVET College, TVET colleges all around Kwa-Zulu Natal gathered in Ladysmith, Mount View hotel for the KZN debate competition 2023.

The debate began around 10:00 in the morning where our programme director Ms T. Madonsela led us with prayer then Mnambithi TVET College Principal Mr. C.J. Ndlela welcomed all the guests and it was all systems go. “We have to give credit to our English lecturers for the visible work we are seeing today” said Mr Ndlovu from eSayidi TVET College who was our moderator for the day as our contestants were taking each other head on. Contestants were well prepared, research was thoroughly done, critical thinking and confidence was also there. Engagements such as debates provide students the opportunity to explore real-world topics and issues, they also learn from their peers and take notes. It also helps with planning and articulating their thoughts so it’s vital for higher education institutions to implement and carry out these programs for the better good of their intellectual thinking.

At the end of the competition there could only be 3 winners. Congratulations to uMfolozi TVET College for taking the number 1 position followed by ELangeni TVET College and Mnambithi TVET College taking number 3 spot.
