It was tough, really tough as the KZN TVET Colleges went head to head in the Allan Gray Makers Entrepreneurship Inter-College KZN Regional Rounds 2025. The competition was held at Mnambithi TVET College, Ladysmith Campus on the 15th August 2025 where all the KZN Colleges were competing for a price in each category. There were four categories namely, I HAVE AN INNOVATIVE BUSINESS, I HAVE A TRADE BUSINESS IDEA, I HAVE A TECH BUSINESS IDEA and I HAVE A GENERAL BUSINESS.
The event was a huge success, bringing together the brightest entrepreneurial minds from across the province. Participants presented their innovative business ideas to a panel of experts judges, demonstrating creativity, passion and deep understanding of their respective markets. The competition highlighted a crucial role of TVET Colleges in fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs and driving economic growth within the region. The diverse range of ideas presented from tech-driven solutions to traditional trade business models, showcased the depth of talent within the KZN TVET College system.
Winners in each category were awarded prizes to help motivate and encourage the good work they done, having to go through research and thoroughly preparations to pitch their presentations in front of a large crowd. Their victory not only provides prizes but also serves as an inspiration to their peers, encouraging more students to pursue entrepreneurship as a viable career path. The Allan gray Makers Entrepreneurship Competition is a statement to the power of collaboration between educational institutions and organizations committed to building a stronger, more innovative future for South Africa.
