
On August 6th 2025 Mnambithi TVET College hosted an enhancement workshop that brought together students, industry experts and leaders in the Tourism and Hospitality industry to discuss and explore strategies and opportunities in the sector providing an immersive learning experiences. Amongst guests Department of Employment and Labour, Uthukela District, Alfred Duma Municipality, EDTEA, SEDFA, NYDA, and Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs. Purpose of the enhancement workshop was to provide a holistic learning experience that equips students with practical & industry relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes to succeed in their future carries as leaders & entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Ms Zanele Khoza from Uthukela District stated the importance of entrepreneurship and exposure in the fields of Tourism & Hospitality industry, she also advised students that becoming an entrepreneur helps reduce unemployment and inequalities in our society, it improve growth and exposure in the industry. Mr Sandile Nkosi from EDTEA also elaborated on how to start your own business clearly explaining how the government departments offer support to entrepreneurs and what programmes must students grab with both hands to enhance better opportunities for them.
Mr Thanda Khathi from SEDFA stated that there are support programmes, training and funding providing empowerment skills and development to people who want to start businesses. He also encouraged the pupil to think outside their qualification as the unemployment rate keep on increasing and more youth are taking up space to the entrepreneurship environment.
The workshop was an overwhelming success providing students with a wealth of knowledge skills and inspiration to excel in the chosen fields. Attendees gained deep understanding of the industry and opportunities to take your knowledge to the next level. The future belongs to those who are prepared to seize it.
