World AIDS Day is dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrating international solidarity in the fight against the epidemic. A day to remember those who lost their lives to HIV/AIDS and to celebrate the progress made in treatment and prevention. 06 December 2024 we were at Ladysmith Campus where we were expanding and exchanging knowledge with regards to creating awareness and teaching one another about Aids. Mrs. G Mazibuko (NSF Coordinator) opened with prayer and Mr. Nxumalo (AD: Corporate Communication) welcomed all our guests and the programme commenced with message of support by our College Principal Mr. C.J Ndlela.

The theme of the event was “TAKE THE RIGHT PATH” this was to encourage everyone to be extra precautious, if you are living with AIDS it is your duty to take good care of yourself, take good decisions concerning your health and do not be selfish or you know someone else living with AIDS it is also your duty to give support and not discriminate people living with aids. Celebrating WORLD AIDS DAY, The Mnambithi TVET College staff and students took it upon themselves to also challenge the stigma and misconceptions revolving around people living with HIV & AIDS. “This day is to reflect on the progress made to ensure that we have taught our students about the dos and don’ts of HIV & AIDS, we have learnt how to support those living with AIDS” said Ms. Mpangase (DP: Academic Services) as she was unfolding the purpose of the day.  We also had prestigious guests such as Professor N. P Makhoba, Department of Health officials, Lesbians & gays Community, TB/HIV Care and Mr. S. Sithole to educate us more regarding the importance of promote testing, supporting communities, preventing new infections, Myths and Facts about HIV/AIDS and Condom demonstration.

This was also an opportunity for the College to give thanks and appreciation to our stakeholders as they have assisted us throughout the year, engaging with our students and offering support to our campuses. The event ended off by the presenting of awards to our stakeholders thereafter we were off to the pledge wall 2024 where out students, staff and stakeholders pledged their commitment to take the right path and be transformers of change.
